Camilla shuffled in bed, reacting to the sunlight peaking in through the window. The temperature rising in the shared bedroom, the warmth emitting from Camilla's blanket becoming unbearable. Slowly rising, Cailla pulls off her blanket and sits there. Blinking blearly, she looks around the room trying to figure out whats missing...and then it hits her: Pumpkin is not in the room with her.
She slowly pushes herself off her bed, stretching her arms and popping her back. It's funny, she thinks to herself, the dream made no sense. She puts those thoughts to the back of her mind as she walks out of her bedroom.
Shielding her eyes, she reaches for the kitchen light switch. It seems that Pumpkin accidentally left the lights on again. Able to see clearly, she looks around the room, though she knows he isn't there either. Her mind finally catches up to her, she remembers that he likes sitting on the balcony in the mornings to watch the sunrise.
Camilla walks over to the glass sliding door, seeing her beloved boyfriend messily eating an apple slice. He chews on the left side; cautiously avoiding the right side of his mouth where his overgrown fang is housed in the hopes he doesn't pierce his bottom lip.
"I was looking for you," the screeching of the glass door causes Pumpkin to jump a little.
Grabbing the apple slicer, Pumpkin begins to cut another. "Mmm mornin' to you too..you want a apple?"
She takes a seat across from him. It's a bit difficult to cut the apple; the slicer is angled wrong and Pumpkin uses far too much force with little payoff. After struggling for a bit, he repositions it, bringing it down with a satisfying 'crunch'. Removing the slicer, he arranges the slices while nibbling on the core. He moves the plate to Camilla.
She mutters a quick 'thank you' as she picks up an apple slice. It's a honeycrisp apple, the tart flavor wakes her up a bit. She devours the rest of the slice without much thought.
"Y'know," she starts mid chew, "this reminds me of the dream I had last night."
"Your dream?"
"Yeah it was like," she stops to think for a moment. She brings her hands to her face, rubbing her eyes as she tries to remember what happened in her dream.
"I don't know, it was weird. I had a false awakening twice in a field. Very weird."
Pumpkin fixes his bonnet, pushing hair from the right side back into it. He thinks, choosing his words carefully. "Really sounds like something."
Camilla nods her head in agreement. She shoves another apple slice in her mouth. "You turned into an orange," she giggles to herself.
Pumpkin looks back at her wide eyed before giggling as well. "Well now you gotta tell me the context you can't leave me with dat."
Camilla laughs a little harder at his response. She thinks of a good way to explain this portion of the dream. In reality, the dream was slipping from her mind the more she talked to her boyfriend.
Shifting in her seat, she searches her mind for the words to accurately describe that section of her dream. "Well it was an apple when I picked it up from...a basket, if I remember correctly." She takes a small bite out of an apple slice.
"It was an apple, then an orange...and then it peeled itself and you were sleeping in the peel."
Pumpkin put his arms on the table. "Then what?"
"I kissed you and then I woke up. I don't remember much outside of that though. Weird dream."
"Yeah...weird dream. I wonder what it means." He's quiet for a moment before standing up. "You comin' back inside? It's getting a bit too warm for me."
Mmm I wanna stay out her for a little longer. The breeze is nice...don't tell me you're lying about it being warm so you can go inside."
Pumpin stares back at her wide eyed and mumbles, "Nah it's getting a bit warmer." He walks up to Camilla and kisses her temple.
"I'll probably go back to sleep. I been up since 6 am." He walks up to the balcony door, opens it and turns back to look at her, "Hope you come back in soon."
